The recovery of Whooping Crane numbers from fewer than 25 in the 1940’s to over 500 today is one of the greatest success stories in conservation biology. Almost all Whooping Cranes living in the “wild” overwinter along the coast of Texas and migrate to far northern Canada to breed in the summer months.
